Here is a brief biographical sketch of Brother Alexander Davidson taken from Temple Lodge, No.33 records:

“...Application from Bro. Alexander Davidson aged 65 years Profession shipwright Residence Duncans for membership by affiliation. Moved by Bro. A.H. Peterson seconded by Bro. Gidley that the application be received and the usual investigating committee appointed. Carried.

W.M. appointed Bro. Campbell Bro. Dwyer and Bro. Robinson......”

“.....Committee on Bro. Alex Davidson reported favourable.
Moved by Bro. Gidley seconded by W. Bro Peterson that the report be received, the committee discharged and the candidate Ballotted for. Carried....

Ballot was then passed for Bro. Alex. Davidson and was declared clear. The Wor. Master declared Bro. Davidson elected a member of Temple Lodge by affiliation.....”

“......The Worshipful Master explained that this Emergency meeting had been called by him to attend to the burial of our late Brother Alexander Davidson, whose remains had arrived from Alberta on the day previous and were now present in the Lodge room, and immediately proceeded with the funeral service, and the Wor. Master deposited with the Brother Secretary, for deposit in the archives of the Lodge, a roll inscribed thereon as follows:

“Brother Alexander Davidson, born at Aberdeen, Scotland on February 27, 1842; made a Master Mason in St. George Lodge, No. 190, A.F.&A.M., Aberdeen, Scotland. Affiliated with Temple Lodge, No. 33, A.F.&A.M., Duncan, B.C. December 12 1908. Died November 14, 1911.”

A procession was formed and the remains of our late Brother borne away and tenderly laid to rest with the solemn formalities and ceremonies of the institution in the cemetery of St. Mary’s Church, Somenos, B.C.

Returning to the Lodge room it was moved by Wor. Bro. Thomas Pitt, seconded by Wor. Bro. J.M. Campbell, that as a token of respect and affection for the memory of our late Brother Alexander Davidson the Charter of the Lodge be draped in mourning for a period of one month. Carried....”

At present, all we know about Brother Alexander Davidson comes from Temple Lodge, No. 33 records. According to the Lodge Minute Book, Brother Davidson was born in Aberdeen, Scotland; was a member of St. George Lodge, No. 190 in Aberdeen; made a Petition for Affiliation with Temple Lodge, No. 33 on 14 November 1908, stating that he was a shipwright and a resident of Duncans, B.C.

Brother Davidson was elected a member of Temple Lodge by affiliation on 12 December 1908.

He died in Alberta (at this time we don't know where or how) on 14 November 1911 and was buried with full Masonic ceremonies by Temple Lodge, N0. 33 on 28 November 1911.
